Niagra Falls
Niagra Falls is less than a two hour drive from Palmyra, so we took a day to go there while Mom & Dad were busy being missionaries. It was a fun day trip, but we timed it poorly. We tried to go on a day that was supposed to have nice, warm weather-which it was. The only problem was, it also happened to be Canadian Thankgiving, which meant all the Canadians went to the falls on thier day off! It was so crowded, we had to wait our turn to get a viewing spot over the railing. Reglardless of the crowds, we still had a good time.
We parked at one end of the falls on the Canadian side, ate our lunch, and then walked along the falls until we reached where our boat ride began. We took the Hornblower Boat, which takes you right up to the falls. Anders, Ellen, and I all thought it was a lot of fun. Ellen liked the wind and spray in her face. Summer, on the other hand, did not. She liked the boat part, but she didn't like the "getting wet from the falls" part, so she spent most of her time behind the glass wall. She and Ellen both willingly wore their ponchos (I was a little worried about that) and we enjoyed our ride.
After our boat ride, we slowly made our way back up to the car. We stopped at a gift shop and stopped to take picures. It really is a beautiful site and it is amazing to me how much water is going over the edge! Niagra Falls is quite impressive, fun to see, and something I think everyone should go to at least once.
Summer & I getting wet from the falls on our boat ride.
Double stroller style. This is how you do lots of walking with two kids when you don't bring your double stroller. I didn't want to risk the chance of our nice double stroller getting ruined on the airplane, so we only brought our single one. We had to borrow a second one for Summer, and although it was a pain to steer (I now appreciate our nice ones so much more!), I was sure glad we had it. Summer would not have made it very far walking.
