Lyman Reunion
A week and half after the Osborne reunion, we returned to the exact same location (Anders & I stayed in the same bedroom even!) for the Lyman Famiy Reunion. By some unknown methods (ok, I know how it happened, I'm still just trying to figure out how I let it happen), I basically ended up being in charge of the entire reunion. Yep, you heard me right. With some input from one of Anders' aunts, I planned it all. I've done my duty with the Lyman's and will never do it again. It is really hard to plan a reunion for a family that you've only known for 5 years and that has family members that you don't really know. It's hard to know how they work, what they really want to have happen, and frankly, my planning was only accepted or expected when it was convenient. That being said, overall, I think it went well. Grandma Lyman thought it was wonderful and I think everyone had fun.
The activities for those few days included:
Yard Games
Two family history night
Hike to Strawberry Point
Trip to Mammoth Caves
Karaoke (Dylan & I dominated)
Group Games
Nature Scavenger Hunt for the kids
Kid activities including paper rockets, jewelry making, bubble blowing & legos
Lots of playing in the hammocks
Line Dancing
On our way home from the reunion, we stopped and did a hike to Cascade Falls with Issac, Dylan, and Nisha. It was a lovely little hike-perfect for Summer. She needed to hold someones hand, but it didn't have much elevation change and it was short enough that she walked almost the entire way. Ellen also enjoyed the hike. She loved being in the backpack and would periodically give happy kicks. I did have to wear Isaac's hat to protect my hair from her pulling (which she thought was great fun). The view along the hike was breathtaking and it was a perfect day for a hike.
