Summer is 1

I can't believe my baby girl is one! For that matter, I can't believe I've been a parent for a whole year. Everyone told me how fast the first year goes and how much your baby grows in one year. I believed them, but I didn't understand. Now I understand.

Here are her stats as of her birthday:  

-Weight: 17.81 lbs, 19th percentile

-Height: 29 inches, 42nd percentile

-Head Circumference: 18 inches, 72nd percentile

Here is where Summer is developmentally:

- She has now discovered the joy of walking in the last week. Previous to this, she has shown zero interest in walking. Anytime someone would try to help her, she would just sit down (and my dad tried a lot-to no avail). She now will pull anyone along who will help support her. She can stand for fairly long periods of time by herself. It is only a matter of time until she starts walking on her own.

-Her favorite foods include fresh peaches, peas, spaghetti, yogurt, cheese, cheerios, bread, and french vegetable soup. She has rejected all baby food and anything that resembles it. She won't eat applesauce, canned peaches or pears, or cottage cheese. 

-We've introduced her to cow's milk and she is learning to like it. It still isn't her favorite, but she'll at least drink it now. 

-She "talks" a lot. When it is just us at home, she'll jabber away all day. 

-She also likes to sing. When she is happy and I am carrying her, she often sings little songs. My favorite is when I pick her up out of her crib and she immediately begins to sing and bob her head. 

-She has finally learned to turn around and then go down the stairs on her own, although she usually still yells for me to come get her. 

-She has 8 teeth. One on the bottom just popped through a few days ago. 

-She likes to play with her dad. She'll giggle and laugh when Anders tries to chase her, even if she doesn't always go running. 

-She loves her baths. She got some bath toys for her birthday and has become an expert bathtub basketball player. 

-She has two great loves in her life: her zebra blanket and her teddy bear (the one in all the pictures).
