7 months...and 8 months

So Summer reached the 7 month mile stone, and then she reached the 8 month mile stone, and then I eventually blogged about it. She has no 8 month picture-I failed. She hit 8 months just a few days after we left for California, and I never got one done after-so no 8 month picture. So we're going to do a combined blog post about her developments.

By 7 Months Summer was:
-good at sitting up, still a little wobbly sometimes, but pretty much stable
-she also figured out how to move forward by a "swim" crawl. She would push up on her hands, lean forward and fall on her chest, move her hands forward, and push up again. She looked like she was doing the breaststroke on the carpet, but it moved her forward.
-exploring more foods-we started into some fruits (which she seems to think are pretty good) and a variety of vegetables (which she still will eat)
-staring at strangers. She still does it. She doesn't cry when held by someone she doesn't know, but she just stares at them and takes it all in. She is our little observer.

By 8 months Summer:
-was an expert sitter, she had no problems sitting up by this point
-was a very fast "swim" crawler, she could get anywhere she wanted
-discovered that if I left the room, she didn't have to stay behind. She realized she could leave the living room and move into the kitchen
-just before hitting 8 months, she realized that she could crawl by moving her hands as well. She switched to a "normal" crawl for a few days and then discovered she could also crawl with her knees off of the floor. She now switched between a normal crawl and a "bear" or what I call a "spider" crawl
-She got her first two teeth! The first one came in on March 27th. I discovered her first one while out to eat my my mom, sister, and niece. Her second one popped through right before hitting 8 months.
-developed a lot of her sense of humor. She has begun to laugh a lot more willingly than she used to and at a lot more random things. It is a lot of fun for both Anders and I.
-discovered the stairs going down. We're still working on how to best address this issue in our multi-level home.

Summer at 7 months.

One of the first warm days this spring.

 Happy Easter!

  1. Wonderful! Wish I could see her more often. And you have in no way "failed." I think you're documenting her developments very well! And you do have a few pics of her while you were in CA. That counts, right? :)
