Deck

When we moved into our house, we made a list of projects that we needed to get done. One of the bigger ones, and one we wanted to get done before winter, was to refinish the deck. About 3 weeks ago we planned on spending our Saturday working on it, but we watched in rain all day instead. I thought we had missed our chance to do it before winter set in and that we were going to have to wait until Spring. Friday evening we realized that we had most of the day free and that the weather was supposed to be great. We ended up spending pretty much all day working on it. We took about three trips to Lowe's, covered ourselves in dust (from the sanding), and spilled a little paint. Here are the "before and after" pictures to show our efforts of the day.

Before:

During: Notice the 200 lb sander we rented from Lowe's... worth it, but heavy.
After:

We also had some people from our ward (we are so grateful for them!) come over and chop down a couple of dead trees from the front yesterday as well. I continued to paint while Anders went and helped them. We now have a nice stack of firewood in the back yard and a nice hole in the front. We'll take care of that issue later...
