Easter

We had a nice, but busy Easter (which will be proven by the large quantity of pictures in this post). The Friday before Easter, Anders went on a campout with the scouts in our ward. I thought it was really bad timing for a campout, but we both felt like he needed to go and get to know the boys in our ward a little better, so the girls and I were on our own for a couple of Easter activities.

Friday evening we headed to my Grandma's assisted living facility for their Easter Egg hunt. There was lots of eggs, a relatively small amount of children, and lots of awesome prizes (you know, things like bikes). With four kids participating (2 of my neices), the odds were in our favor of winning a cool prize. However, it was not meant to be. We had to be content with some candy, a cookie, and a picture with the Easter Bunny (Ellen wouldn't go near him)-which we were!

Saturday morning, Summer and I dyed eggs while Ellen ate snacks. We tried a couple of different methods, but Summer's favorite was the traditional way. It was quite fun!

Saturday afternoon, we headed up to a Lyman party with Nisha. We did a giant Easter egg hunt in Matt & Rosemary's yard, had some great food, and enjoyed chatting. In our first egg hunt, Ellen didn't really get what was going on. However, at the Lyman egg hunt, she picked it up and got pretty excited about carting eggs around in her basket. She was pretty cute. Summer was pretty excited to be doing an egg hunt with her 2nd cousin Jackson. I like hanging out with the Lyman's. They're fun.

Sunday morning we celebrated Easter at our house. We managed fit it all in between Anders' meetings and choir practice. Good thing we have 1 pm chuch!  Summer received her first bike. It seemed a little over the top for Easter to me, but she needed something she can ride around this Summer. Her tricycle is too hard for her to use, so we opted for a balance bike. Hopefully her expectations aren't this high for every Easter. I also wanted to move the Easter Bunny stuff to Saturday so we could concentrate on the Savior on Sunday, but since Anders was gone, we decided to stick with Sunday morning. We also hid the real, hard boiled eggs and some plastic eggs that had little reminders of Christ in them. I had planned on doing the plastic eggs like an advent calendar as a count down to Easter, but never got it made-so we did them as our Sunday Easter Egg hunt. I quite liked that and think we'll make it into a tradition.

After church, we finished off the weekend at Grandma Black's house for a ham dinner and pinata. The kids enjoyed running around, being pulled around in the wagon, and taking a million swings to break open the pinata. It was a nice evening.
