4th of July
Happy 4th of July! We spent the morning at the splash pad in Highland. It was our first time there and we declared it a place to return to. Summer had a great time in the little river (she doesn't actually like water splashing in her face, so it is perfect for her) and Ellen quite enjoyed it as well. We also discovered that Summer's footprint is identical to Anders' footprint, just smaller. She is her father's daughter.
We then had some of Anders' family over for a BBQ and then a trip to Thanksgiving Point to see the fireworks. Summer wasn't too sure about the whole firework thing. She was enjoying the sparklers until she got burned and then when the big ones went off, she didn't like the noise. She covered her ears the whole time and a few tears were shed. However, she did like the aerials set off in the nieghborhoods-probably because they were far enough away not to be very loud, but were still fun to watch.
Anyway, we had a fun day. I am grateful to live in this country-not because it is perfect or better than others, but because of the blessings it gives me. It allows my family to live in peace and comfort, it gives us boundless opportunities, and frankly, it is home. God bless America!
