Ellen is 6 Months

Ellen is now 6 months! 6 months seems like such a milestone to me-6 months! It's half a year! It's hard to believe my baby is that big already. She is our happy, calm baby!

Here are a few developments from the last month:

1. We've started solid food (right at 6 months). She has done really well with them she quite likes them so far. We've only tried oatmeal cereal and squash, but so far they are winners.

2. Ellen will sometimes get upset when she gets left in a room by herself.

3. She likes to play Peek-a-boo. She laughs and giggles when you play with her.

4. She can roll across the room, although she doesn't do it very often. Most of the time she ends up moving in circles in the same small area, alternating from her back to her stomach. She has started to attempt to scoot forward, but has only succeeded in pushing back. She's not gotten very far yet (only a few inches), but I think it's just a matter of time until she can scoot around backwards.

5. She is close to sitting up on her own. With just a little bit of support, she can stay up.

6. I have found her sleeping on her stomach on a regular basis. She seems to prefer it.

7. She typically goes to bed around 6:30 and will sleep until 7-7:30 the next morning. I wake her up to feed her before I go to bed (around 10:30) each night and then she sleeps until morning. It is fabulous! There are still nights where she gets up at 3 am, but those are becoming less frequent.

8. She has started to grab at anything that is within range.

9. She loves her baths and does a lot of kicking. I usually come out of bath time pretty wet.

10. Ellen also likes to blow lots of raspberries. She is quite the expert at them and will often spend 1/2 hour doing it.

Ellen's first time eating solid food! She did a pretty good job of eating it and seemed to like it okay after a couple of bites.

And just a cute one of Summer and I.

  1. It's amazing how much development there is, just between the 4th and 6th month! I love the pic of Anders with the girls. And all those smiles are adorable. Yay for liking solid food!
