Halloween

Halloween this year was pretty low-key. I attribute that to the unexpected arrival of Ellen just a few days before. My mom offered to stay at our house with Ellen while Anders and I took Summer trick-or-treating through the neighborhood. I was feeling the need to get out and move around a little bit (I'd already spent two days at the hospital attached to an IV and then two days at home basically sitting) and Summer was in desperate need of some one on one time, so out we went.

Summer was the cutest little pumpkin. I finished her tutu the night before (it was mostly already done) and was grateful I had decided against the more ambitious costume I originally had thought of doing. There is no way I would have finished it.

Anyway, we took Summer down one side of the street in our ward and back up it. She was pretty unsure of it all at first, but once she realized she got candy, she warmed up to the idea. She even started to say trick-or-treat by the end, but not necessarily when she was supposed to. She was very wary of anyone who had on a mask, cape, or other imposing costume such as armor. I'm glad I got to go out with her for her first time trick-or-treating, so thanks Mom for watching Ellen and passing out candy.

The candy in her "pumpeen" pail was very much enjoyed, although I still can't figure out why kids love the gross candy so much. Oh well, means more of the good stuff (read chocolate) for me!

This pumpkin was on our porch when we came home from the hospital-isn't it cute?

Waiting for the door to be opened.

The lovely sunset that night-it was the perfect night for trick-or-treating. Warm and dry! I don't remember too many Halloween's like that in Colorado. I remember wearing my coat and traipsing through the snow.

Proof that I went too!
