The Loft and Garage
When we moved into our house, our garage was kind of a mess. We had this loft that was falling apart and not very stable. Also, only part of the walls were insulated and only the side of the garage that was connected to the house was dry walled. Basically, our garage was really scary and full of lots of spiders. If I was a spider, I would have moved in.
Anyway, we've done some "remodeling" of the garage and it is so much nicer now. Here are some before and after pictures.
The old loft from the stairs. Yeah, kinda scary. Not very safe. Also, notice the lack of insulation-and the insulation that is there is backwards. Weird, I know.
Also, notice the cabinets. We got rid of those. I know it's a garage so nothing has to be fancy or even really nice, but no amount of cleaning (I tried) made them even remotely nice. Things were peeling away and they were just gross, plus one was missing a door, so we got rid of them. I was also afraid that they might fall apart one day.
After being drywalled and getting some shelves put up. Our garage was more or less like this for several months-until we got the loft put in.
The new loft-from the stairs. Anders had a cousin and a guy from our ward come help build it. I think they did a great job and it doesn't freak me out to get on it. It is totally stable.
We have now put everything back in our garage, put a lot of stuff up in the loft and our garage is totally put back together now. We can park one car in it, have lots of room for Anders' saws, and we emptied out a lot of the stuff from our storage room and put it in the loft. Now onto the next project of building shelves for the food storage so we can put in the storage room and take it out of a bedroom. Yay for projects! And yay for a willing and awesome husband!
I love it! Great work, guys. Your garage looks really nice.
