Weekend at the Cabin

We spent this past weekend at the family cabin with my family. It was Anders' first time to the cabin and I was so excited to take him. Almost all of our family vacations growing up were spent here and we looked forward to our trip to the cabin each summer. As a child we spent most of our time fishing with my Grandpa, catching chipmunks, playing games, and exploring the forested hillside. There is no TV, internet, cell phone service, or much else in the way of technology up there-so we have to keep busy the old fashioned way.

My parents spent the entire week at the cabin with my uncle and aunt fixing up a lot of things. They painted the deck, put in new screen doors, installed a new fan, replaced the bathroom floor, fixed the outdoor water spout, and probably had a couple of other small projects in there. They were busy all week, but by the time we got there it was pretty much done. Anders was put to work doing a few things-he helped fill in a hole in the roof and he split some logs (the job no one ever wants to do but he enjoyed). He also helped with a few other thing here and there.

While there we participated in all the regular cabin activities: games, reading, eating, and roasting smores. We also took a trip to the little general store where everything costs 4 times what it normally would, walked down to the river to play, and hung out on the shores of the lake for a little while.

Overall we had a great time and Anders was finally introduced to the much heard of cabin. Here are a few pictures from the weekend.

Welcome to the family cabin Anders-time to get to work!

Proof that I was on this trip. I have a feeling that I am going to be like my dad-take all the pictures and not be in any.

Sarah's smile is decieving because it does not show how cold the water really is.

More proof that I was on the trip. This is the view from what we call "The Point."
